The black-haired disabled boy sat on the grass, near his tent, soaking up the sun. He was bare-chested – he thought he could gain a suntan, though there was little chance of that, to be honest. His skin was fair and due to the fair skin of both his English and Japanese parents, sun tanning wasn’t going to happen any time soon. He sighed as he lifted his arm up above his head and turned his head to the left. He hoped Miranda was ok. Maybe Rikuo could go cheer her up. Tristan wasn’t one who went out of his way to spend time with his siblings, but he was someone who you could count on when you needed him.
Kai was starting to become the happiest he’d been in years. He had his good friends here: Joe Kido and Sora Takenouchi. He had met an old acquaintance: Matt Ishida and made a new one: Luisa Cerventes. Hopefully he could become friends with Matt and Luisa. His two tent mates were starting to become friends too. Bullies seemed to come to him, like bees to honey and he was sick of it. Why did they pick on the weak kids? Were they that insecure that they felt that bullying weaker kids would make them feel better? He wanted them to picking on him. Well, whatever – he was going to be a somebody and they weren’t. When he felt like he was wasting his time with sunbathing, Kai put his t-shirt back on and sat up on his knees. He then stretched, making his limbs creak.
“Ah, much better!”

Well, it seemed like TK had gotten himself in a bad situation.
"Matt, where are you!?" the boy yelled, hoping to get a response. Unfortunately, he was met with silence. He had been walking around camp moments ago until he had noticed a ladybug flying around. Wanting to get a closer look at it, he had chased it down, though whenever he got close to it, it would fly away. His brother had warned him not to run off multiple times, but at some point, his brother must have lost track of him, as when the child stopped chasing after the elusive bug, he couldn't see his brother anywhere, and he was in the middle of a forest. "Anyone?!" the boy yelled one last time before giving up.
"A-ah, alright, I just gotta remember one of those tricks to help me," the boy said to himself, trying to hold back from crying. He could try and find the northern star...no, it was still sunny out. Maybe he could look at the moss to see which direction to go...but he didn't remember which direction moss grew in. "M-maybe Matt or someone else will find me..." he said as a way to console himself. However, it didn't do a very good job, as the boy started tearing up.
Before he could start crying, he got lucky; he had spotted a large amount of tents over by a large clearing. Overjoyed, the boy ran over to find that he had inadvertently gone in a full circle back into the camp. However, he couldn't see where Matt was. Did he go out searching for him?
He quickly noticed a black-haired boy sitting down somewhere. He recognized that boy as someone he had seen his brother talking to before. Maybe he knew where Matt went?
"Excuse me," TK said, approaching the other boy, "Do you know where Matt is? I think you've talked to him before. He's got blonde hair and wears a sleeveless green shirt."

Kai was about to go into his manual wheelchair when a little boy with a green jumper and hat with a blue plastic gem came up to him. He asked Kai if he’d seen a guy with blonde hair and a green sleeveless top, Matt Ishida. Why was this kid asking him if he’d seen Matt unless...this was Matt’s brother or something. He did look similar to Matt. Kai couldn’t remember if Matt had said anything about having a brother or not. He had a terrible memory at the best of times. Thankfully it didn’t interfere with his school work. He had a good academic level, one that made some of the able-bodied student resent him, which in turn caused them to bully him.
“Uh, no sorry. I haven’t seen him, I'm afraid. You his brother or something?” Kai wanted to help the kid, and also wanted to confirm the kid’s relationship with Matt. It may have been weird but you never knew what could happen if you gave the location to an acquaintance or friend to someone who’d just come up to you randomly. Kai crawled to where his manual chair was and put himself into the chair properly. He didn’t want to freak the little kid out but how else would he get around? He didn’t have the luxury of being able to use his legs whenever he wanted, like the other kids here. his disability was centre of fear, ridicule, pity and avoidance by most of the kids at camp, save for Sora, Joe, and his two tent mates, Migato and Tenshu. He hadn’t really spoken to Matt since that one time he helped Kai up when he had fallen. Kai gave the kid a friendly smile, just to let him know that he was friendly.
He pushed himself back to where the kid was. Maybe they could look for Matt together. After all, two heads were better than one.

TK was disappointed when the other boy said he didn't know where Matt was, worried that Matt might be in the forest right now trying to find him. The next worse thing the little boy could think of after getting lost in a forest by himself was getting someone else lost.
It seemed like the other boy knew who Matt was, though, asking TK if he was Matt's brother. "Yeah!" the boy said, at least a bit happy, "Matt's my big brother. I'm his little brother, TK!" At least he was able to find someone that knew his brother. Maybe he could help find Matt?
Before TK could ask him to help, the boy moved himself onto a wheelchair. He only just noticed that the wheelchair was there, and was fairly uncomfortable with the whole situation. He had always been told to be nice to people in wheelchairs and not to bother them, but he never really had the chance to interact with anyone that was disabled. Sure, he knew a kid that had to be in one for a while, but he never really talked to that kid. This was his first time talking to someone like this, and he was pretty nervous. The other boy's smile only did a little to make him more comfortable.
TK contemplated just leaving to go and search for his brother, maybe find someone else to help him, but the boy wheeled himself over to him. "Maybe you can help me look for him," the boy said, though he was noticeably uncomfortable: he was avoiding eye contact with the other boy, and his voice was a bit shaky.

So, this kid was Matt’s brother. They did look somewhat similar. When he came back, Kai noticed that TK seemed suddenly uncomfortable around him, and he had a hunch on what made feel uncomfortable. He should make the kid feel relaxed around him, he didn’t want tension. He started by telling the kid his name and that he had met Matt a few years ago in school and that he’d seen Matt earlier but he didn’t know where he was now. Then when TK said that maybe Kai could help him look, Kai smiled. Hopefully they could become friends. He didn’t want TK to be uncomfortable around him. Sora, Joe and Matt were ok with him being disabled, it seems. He noticed that TK avoided looking at him, which hurt him somewhat.
“Sure, TK. Where do you want to start? But before we start, I just want to say that you don’t have to feel uncomfortable around me, ‘kay? I'm just like you except I need this to get around.”
Kai wondered if TK had been told about Kai by his brother. He didn’t think so by the way TK was avoiding eye contact with him. Kai wanted the little guy to be comfortable enough to at least look at him in the eye. Kai pushed himself forward, with some difficulty over the grass. Wet grass and mud was a wheelchair user’s main enemy, along with snow. Thankfully the grass was dry now but still hard for Kai to move his wheelchair on. The disabled kid wished he could have brought his electric wheelchair – would have made things so much easier.

TK wasn't intentionally trying to offend Kai, it was just that this was an entirely new experience to him, and he wasn't too sure how to react. In addition, he had only just managed to find his way out of the forest after being lost and was now worried that Matt might be in the same situation, so he was already stressed out.
The other boy introduced himself as Kai Starshine, explaining that he had met Matt in school a couple of years ago, and that he had seen Matt a while ago, though once again repeating that he didn't know where Matt was now. Granted, it didn't help the situation that much, but is was at least comforting for TK to have found someone that knew Matt. It would probably help them when they would search for his brother.
TK was rather embarrassed when Kai, right after agreeing to help him on his search, pointed out that the child didn't need to act so uncomfortable around him. "A-ah, I'm sorry!" the boy said, his cheeks reddening slightly as a result of his embarrassment, "I-I...it's just, you're the first person that I've talked to that was in a wheelchair." It was actually relaxing, admitting this, but he felt pretty bad about getting called out on acting rudely to the other boy.
"I guess we could try looking around the camp," the boy said, not really having a good idea of where to go first. He didn't remember at what point he had entered the forest in, so his brother could have been anywhere. It was probably safest to make sure he wasn't still in the camp.
TK noticed that Kai was having some difficulty moving around the grass. Hoping to make up for being rude before, TK, moved behind the boy's wheelchair, saying, "Is it all right if I help you move around?" If Kai let him, he would help push the wheelchair around, despite the fact that doing so would be rather inefficient towards his objective of finding where Matt was...he actually wanted to know what it was like to push a wheelchair around.

Kai was glad they could look for Matt together. He hoped TK would be ok around. Kai smiled and said that it was ok for TK to initially feel nervous around him but that he shouldn’t be. He was a person, just like him. Kai thought about where the best place to look for TK’s brother was. Truth be told, Kai didn’t know Matt as well he knew Sora or Joe so he honestly wouldn’t know where to start. Maybe they should start with his tent and then the building facility that had the dining hall, toilets and showers and then the camp grounds.
When TK asked Kai if he could help him move round, Kai was shocked. Just a moment ago, he’d been nervous but now it seems he wanted to help the disabled kid out, which made Kai smile. Then a thought dawned on him. Maybe TK wanted see what it was like to push a wheelchair or be in one. Kai was eager for the boy to know about disability but knew he might hurt himself. “That’s very kind of you, TK but I don’t want you to injure yourself,” said Kai. “Pushing a chair in this sort of grass is hard.”
Kai hoped they could become friends. The boy seemed nice enough. Kai thought that having friends and being loyal to them was one of the most important things in life, apart from loving and standing by family, though there were limits, of course. Kai was an intelligent young man, but some people were under the impression that he was stupid or not sound of mind and treated him like a child. Sighing to himself, Kai once again smiled to TK.

"Injure myself?" the boy parroted, trying to think how pushing a wheelchair would hurt him. He had seen other kids his age do it before, and they seemed to be absolutely fine with pushing it around. So what if he was moving it along grass? It hadn't rained for a while, and there wasn't any melting snow since it was now summer, so the ground wouldn't be wet at all. How hard could it be to push it?
Whether or not Kai wanted it, TK would then try to push the wheelchair forward, an act that was more difficult than expected; he was able to move the wheelchair around, but he had to put a good deal of force into it to make it move. "Heh..." the boy said, trying to sound like it took much less effort than it really did to push the chair, "This isn't...as hard...as you said!"
However, after a short while, his arms would start to ache, eventually leading to them stopping. They had covered a good amount of ground, but not nearly the entire campsite. "Ok, maybe it is pretty tough to push it on grass," TK said, shaking his arms as if doing so would make the aches go away. It was worth it though; pushing the wheelchair around was fairly exciting, even if was difficult to do. He'd want to try it again, although preferably on better terrain.
The boy looked around again, trying to see if he'd spot Matt. Unfortunately, he had no such luck. "See him anywhere, Kai?" he asked, hoping that Kai might have better luck finding Matt.

Before the black-haired disabled guy could protest, TK was pushing the wheelchair, albeit with a little effort in pushing and pulling. Kai felt sorry for the little guy. They managed to get a little way but then TK stopped. Once they were on solid pavement, he’d let him push him. TK seemed ok, and seemed to have got over his nervousness, which was good. Hopefully they could become friends now. If he and Matt were acquaintances, there was no reason why he and TK couldn’t be friends. Heck, maybe he and Matt would become friends, who knows? Summer camp seemed like it was going to go by slowly. Miranda must be sad without him. He did miss her. He didn’t understand why Mum and Dad had decided to send him to a summer camp, it was weird. Supposedly, his Aunt “wasn’t going to be able to take care of him”, what rubbish!
When asked if he could see Matt yet, Kai said, “I'm afraid not, TK. Let’s keep looking, ok? We may find him soon.” Kai wondered why TK wanted to find Matt. Maybe he needed something or wanted his brother’s company. He was probably reading too much into things, again. Kai had a habit of reading too much into things, sometimes, which sometimes caused him to misunderstand the simplicity of things. Kai managed to get onto solid pavement finally, to which he smiled. Pushing the chair would be easier now, and he could let TK have another go at pushing the wheelchair. He smiled to the boy and scanned the area for the blonde boy he had met years ago. Where could he be?
The wind made the fallen leaves swirl about Kai and made his hair sway. How hard was it to find one boy in a camp? Then again, saying that – camp was sort of big. He had a hard time going to the toilet never mind finding a child’s brother. Kai sighed and then pushed himself some more. He got a bottle of water out of his rucksack, which was strapped to the back of the chair. If TK was thirsty Kai wouldn’t mind sharing. Kai gulped down some water and then put the bottle back, ready to look for Matt once more.

TK sighed as Kai told him that he hadn't spotted Matt either. The boy was worried that his brother was somewhere in the forest, trying to find him. He didn't want to stray far from the camp, since he had last seen his brother in that area, and he definitely didn't want to go back into the forest, since he would risk getting lost again, as well as getting Kai lost along with him. Besides, it was hard enough moving the wheelchair on the open grass; it would probably be even worse in the forest.
The child began to wonder, though. What if his brother hadn't noticed that he had gone into the forest? What if he wasn't aware that his little brother had been missing for a little while? TK even started to think that if Matt got stuck in the middle of the forest, he would probably be able to find his own way out. He always thought that Matt was really smart, smart enough not to get lost in the forest. But where was he?
TK then noticed that Kai then moved onto the pavement, smiling back at him. Was he...oh, he was! TK, excited to get a better chance at pushing Kai's wheelchair, immediately moved to the back of it, grabbing hold of the handle-bars on the back. He would then start to push it, finding it to be a lot easier than before. It was actually fun, pushing the chair around. He would even play around with it a bit, speeding up and slowing down. He had almost forgotten that he was supposed to be finding Matt, having too much fun in the moment.
When Kai took out his water bottle, TK realized that he was actually a bit thirsty. Apart from the juice he had as part of his breakfast, he hadn't drunken anything. When Kai put the water bottle where TK could easily take it, he was tempted to get a quick drink from it. However, he wasn't sure if Kai would be alright with that. It might have been the only water he had...and then again, he wasn't too thirsty.
"How long have you had this wheelchair?" TK asked, a question that quite literally popped out of nowhere in his head.

Before Kai knew it, he was being propelled forward by the kid. TK managed to slow the chair down and then speed it up afterwards. Kai was having so much fun that he completely forgot what he was meant to be doing. He may be thirteen but he was still a kid, who liked to have fun. He wouldn’t be thinking of the future for a while. When Kai noticed TK eyeing the water bottle he smiled inwardly. The poor kid must be thirsty. Kai told the kid with hat that he could take some water but just make sure to clean the top before putting the bottle of water back in his bag. Kai was, by nature, a generous kid, and he hated seeing others in pain. So, when he saw TK eyeing the bottle he felt a tad guilty.
Kai was suddenly taken aback by a question asked TK. He must admit, he hadn’t been asked questions by other kids his own age, ever. The younger ones and older ones were the ones who mainly shunned him. His peers just simply avoided him, with the exception of Joe, Sora and Matt. They seemed to accept just as he was, which was a nice change. The adults tended to suffocate Kai with their worry over his condition. This made Kai understandably upset. He was like anyone else – he didn’t need to be fussed over. He just wanted to be normal and have friends. He wanted to be able to go to sleepovers; to be able to join in with the other kids when they played a game.
“All my life, TK. I was born with complications, you see. Why do you want to know? I'm not mad, just curious.”

TK felt a bit guilty about wanting to drink Kai's water, but when Kai said it was alright for him to do so, he couldn't resist accepting the offer. Taking the water bottle, he took the top off and downed a good half of what was remaining, not realizing how much he drank until he put it down, his thirst quenched. As Kai asked, he put a little bit of water on the cap and wiped it off using his shirt before screwing the top back on and putting it back in Kai's bag. Hopefully, he wouldn't be mad that he drank so much...
And then Kai asked why he wanted to know why he was in a wheelchair. Admittedly, it was probably rude of him to just ask that to someone he had only just met, but his curiosity got in the way of manners. "I wanted to know 'cause you're the first person in a wheelchair I ever talked to," he said, "I always wondered what it would be like to have to sit in a chair and have to be pushed around everywhere." There were a few other things he would've liked to know about, but he realized that they were probably too rude and embarrassing to ask about.
"So, is it hard to have to move around in a chair all the time?" TK asked. One time when he visited a hospital to see one of his relatives, he had the chance to ride around in one. It was kinda fun being pushed around, but he didn't have any control over where he went. He could try to move the wheels, but they were too heavy for him. The issue may have been that he had been sitting in a chair meant for adults, and he was only five when he went there...
It seemed like he had forgotten about trying to look for Matt.
